After 43 years as the host of “Wheel of Fortune,” Pat Sajak’s final episode has been scheduled. Sajak’s tenure on the iconic game show will conclude in June, according to reports.
NewsNation reports that the 77-year-old host, who has already recorded his final episode, will make his last appearance on June 7.
Leading up to his farewell episode, “Wheel of Fortune” will air a series of episodes titled “Thanks for the Memories” in honor of the longtime host.
In a momentous announcement last summer, Sajak revealed his intention to step down following the culmination of the show’s 41st season. “The time has arrived,” he declared.
“I’ve made the decision that our 41st season, commencing this September, will mark the conclusion of my tenure.” Reflecting on his journey, he expressed gratitude, promising further reflections in the months ahead.
It’s been an incredible journey, and I’ll be sharing more thoughts soon. Thank you all for your support.”
Following Sajak’s retirement announcement, Ryan Seacrest was swiftly appointed as the new host of Wheel of Fortune, while Vanna White remained in her role on the iconic game show.
Expressing his gratitude and reverence for the show’s legacy, Seacrest remarked, “I am truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”
Reflecting on Sajak’s departure, many fans shared sentiments of nostalgia and anticipation. “I will certainly miss Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune! He’s the only host I’ve known. But I also can’t wait to see how Ryan Seacrest will handle the job,” remarked one viewer.
